Digital Darkroom

The Digital Darkroom Study Group of FCC meets the third Wednesday of each month, except December, at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room of the Animal Hospital Center. The meetings are open to all, regardless of club affiliation. The meeting topics are varied, but relate to digital photography.

  1. The subject of the August meeting was Tiffen’s Dfx, presented by Craig Lewis. This is available as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop, Apple Aperture and as a standalone program. The cost is $299 for either plugin and $99 for the standalone program. It’s available for both Mac and Windows. Dfx can replicate the effects of all of Tiffen’s glass filters, with many variations, making it extremely versatile and powerful.

The overall reaction from those present was that it’s a tremendous bargain as a standalone, but that the price of the plugin is very high.
